Zoo Knoxville-Must See!

The Knoxville Zoo is a must see if you are anywhere close to Knoxville, TN.  Zoo Knoxville is most definitely fun on the outside, but this zoo is serious about animals on the inside.  Zoo Knoxville is very committed to the solution of saving species from extinction, locally as world wide.   Zoo Knoxville has so many activities to do for the kids, you will want to get there early and stay late.  Behind the scenes tours, Camel rides, and the The Bird Show and just a few of the many presentations Zoo Knoxville has to offer.  In the summer, The Clayton Safari Splash is a 5,000 square foot safari themed water play that is included with general zoo admission.  Located next to the Grasslands of Africa and the African forest you will be entertained by giraffes, elephants, gorillas and chimpanzees.

While you there, you must see the new arrival!  “Arya” a Malayan tiger arrived by special delivery from the Fresno Chaffee Zone in California on January 26 of this year.  When her new home is complete, the new 1.6 acre Tiger Forrest will become one of the best tiger habitats int he country.  “Arya” is a species of fewer that 400 tigers that are left worldwide.  “Arya” will be introduced to two Malayan tiger brothers, Bashir and Tanvir where they will be together in Tiger Forrest.  What an awesome adventure to see!

Last but certainly not least, you have to take a ride on the Zoo Choo Train!  This kid friendly ride around the koi pond is a great end of the day treat for the kids and adults.  There is so much to enjoy and learn at Zoo Knoxville.  Plan a day trip while you are at Deer Creek or Rocky Top Cabin and enjoy a day filled with adventure.  Enjoy the scenic ride over as its a beautiful trip thru the Upper Cumberland Plateau with lots to see along the way.  Check out Zoo Knoxville’s web page for ticket information and daily hours.  http://www.zooknoxville.org
