Visit the Cookeville Museum-Fun day for all!

There are so many things to do and see in this area, but I am sure most people forget about the amazing museums that are still open to the public and most are still FREE! Just a hour or less away from Deer Creek Cabin or Rocky Top Cabin, you can take the kids and enjoy a day of fun and learning. The first and very close is the Cookeville Railroad Depot. This depot was built by the Tennessee Central Railway in 1909. While it served until the 1950’s to be a passenger train service to the city, it was eventually phased out. This is great place if your kids like trains as they have a Baldwin steam engine on display as well as a 1920’s classic red caboose, a 1960’s caboose, and two small track cars. The museum encourages you to bring a picnic lunch and stay a while. They offer a number of picnic tables and benches for visitors. After your lunch and nice tour of the museum, stroll across the street for desert. Cream City Ice Cream and Coffee House is a great way to cap off the day. The ice cream is amazing and the staff are friendly so genuinely kind. This great little coffee house offers, beverages, desserts and of course ICE CREAM! This homemade ice cream place is a regular hang out for those that live in the area, but you do not have to be from around here to enjoy the awesome flavors they have to offer. This great little place has so much history and good vibe to it, you will definitely want to come back.
So, do this day trip while you are at Deer Creek Cabin or Rocky Top Cabin. Its great for the kids and adults alike. Make your reservation today and get out this summer and visit this beautiful area.Make your reservation today.
