Canoe the Caney Fork River!

What a treat a day on the river is! Canoeing the Caney has so many options to enjoy for a day of fun, exercise, picnics and more. The Caney Fork River is one of Middle Tennessee’s most natural treasures. This area is one of the most scenic of all. The Caney Fork River runs approximately 144 miles and rises in Cumberland County about six miles northwest of Crossville and flows northwest to the Cumberland River. While this reservoir is created by the Great Falls Dam, the water being released into the river is from the Center Hill Lake reservoir at Center Hill Dam. The part of the Caney Fork where canoeing is offered, ensures that the river is constant, meaning it year round accessible and is always cool, clear and very inviting. This creates a perfect spot for canoeing, kayaking or trout fishing, which is especially helpful sinc e the river is stocked every year with 100,000 Rainbow and Brown Trout. The Center Hill generation schedule ias posed daily, so you can keep track of the current water conditions and elevations for the river.
So plan your paddling on how far you want to go and what you want to see! Happy Hollow Access is approximately 6 miles downriver and offers beautiful scenery, trout fishing, and casual floating. Betty’s Island Access is about 9 miles and is a very popular trip. This is lined with great scenery, as you will get to enjoy seeing an old 1800’s train bridge, a nest of bald eagles, and a large cave if you are adventurous enough to explore. Keep on canoeing and you will get to the Stonewall Bridge which is about a 15 mile stretch. For the really ambitious, travel on to the South Carthage Ramp which is a 20 mile stretch and takes about 7 hours to reach your destination.
Plan you trip today down the Caney Fork River and you can choose how far you can go!
When you have finished with your day adventure, come on back to the cabin and soak in the hot tub. You will probably need it!
