South Cumberland Recreation Area

South Cumberland Recreation Area is one of the newer Tennessee State Parks. South Cumberland is very unique in that its coverage spans over 4 counties and lies atop the Cumberland Plateau. While there are many trails to enjoy
thru out this park, I am going to share this area with you that I think you would really enjoy to hike.
Savage Gulf State Natural Area is one of Tennessee’s most scenic state outdoor recreation areas. At a length of 5 miles each, the Big Creek, Collins River and Savage Creeks tumble down over 800 feet in elevation through narrow gorges, locally know as the “Gulfs”. This area offers a great view of the true wilderness that still remains in the Cumberland Plateau. Savage Gulf was designated in 1973 by the Tennessee State Legislature as a Class II Natural Scientific Area. The trails in the Savage Gulf have been setup to enable a hiker to enjoy the scenery and also keep intact the natural area so as not to impact the area. This will help to preserve the area for future generations to enjoy. South Cumberland Recreation Area is a beautiful part of Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau so come on out and enjoy this beautiful area and make your reservation today at www.stayatfallcreekfalls.com for a great getaway stay at Deer Creek Cabin or Rocky Top Cabin.
